Keeping It Real: Mistakes I've Made on My Way to a Full CranioSacral Therapy Practice
A couple of months ago, I was working with one of my Private Mentoring clients. We were noodling around ideas for her to become more visible; to give her potential clients the opportunity to get to know her, to like her, and to trust her, so that they would feel comfortable reaching out to work with her.
One of the ideas we discussed was creating some video content for her website so that people could get a sense of her beautiful, vibrant spirit.
Like so many of us, she wasn’t too keen on the idea of videos… being on video can bring up all sorts of gunk for us — everything from feeling like a total dork with nothing to say to thinking our voices sound really weird. (I know this because I have these same feelings!)
But when I explained to her that I knew what she was feeling because I often feel that way too, a strange thing happened.
She didn’t believe me.
She said that I always seem so calm and confident in my videos, with no trace of insecurity or self-judgment.
This floored me, because as I said, I feel these things all the time. I just push through them and do it anyway.
That conversation has stayed with me. I’ve thought a lot about how we look to the outside world can be totally different from how we see ourselves.
Too often, we think that everyone but us has it totally together, is way farther along the path than we are, and has it all figured out.
So, we give up and play small, rather than putting ourselves out there where we can reach the people who can be served by our work.
I say, “No more!”
Starting today, I’m going to be sharing some of the biggest mistakes I’ve made on my way to building a full CranioSacral Therapy practice. It won’t always be pretty, but you’ll get an inside look at what really goes down when you jump wholeheartedly into this wild and crazy world of entrepreneurship.
First up, is a behind-the-scenes look at me creating videos for both the therapists I coach and mentor, and also for my CST clients. As you can see from checking it out — it’s messy, wacky, and far-from-perfect!
My hope is that you’ll be inspired to put your own work out into the world where you can serve people who would benefit from your work, and also that you’ll realize that at times we all feel unsure, uncertain, and under-confident.
No matter where we are on the journey.
